Section 4:
Prayer Enriching Your Life
[Lesson

3 ]
Christ's
life was filled with prayer. "And in the morning long before
daylight, He got up and went out to a deserted place, and there
He prayed" (Mark 1:35).
If you are
to grow into His likeness, you also need to spend time with Him
in daily prayer.
Jesus said, ". . . men ought always to pray, and not to faint"
(Luke 18:1). He indicated that if you do not pray, you will
faint. Without prayer you will be easily defeated by the
temptations of the enemy. God assures you that in answer to
prayer He will take care of your every need.
Jesus said,
"Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name; ask, and you shall
receive, that your joy may be full" (John 16:24).
Paul said,
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us
all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"
(Romans 8:32).
Your Lord
promises to answer prayer, but there are certain conditions.
"If you
abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you
will, and it shall be given unto you" (John 15:7). To "abide"
means to "constantly live." In other words, if you live in
constant fellowship with Christ, and in Daily obedience to His
Word, then you can ask what you will and it shall be done. The
first prayer may be difficult. The words may come slowly, but
you must keep praying. Even the disciples had to learn to pray.
They went to
Jesus and said, "Lord, teach us to pray . . ." (Luke 11:1).
The
questions in this lesson are designed to help you learn more
about prayer and its power. Fill in the answers as nearly as
possible in your own words. Begin NOW to memorize John 15:7.
"If you
abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you
will, and it shall be done unto you." (John 15:7)
